STRADIVARI MODEL CELLO
Stradivari instruments have long been used as models for almost every violin maker. The "Piatti" Strad cello has been particularly interesting to Tim. The "Piatti" is a cello made by Stradivari in 1720 and was named for the renowned Italian cellist Alfredo Piatti who played upon it from 1867-1901.
The outline of this Stradivari model has symmetry and proportion which are not only beautiful, but also produce a very desirable tone. The shoulders are gently sloping for ease of passing into the higher thumb positions. The table between f-holes is strong and broad, yet the bow easily clears the center bouts unencumbered. This model cello speaks dynamically in a pure voice with an intricacy of overtones.
